Getting Out of the Friday Rut

Happy Friday everyone!!

OK, so tonight it’s Core Synergistics in my P90X workout plan. I really don’t feel like doing it. I mean, I really really DONT WANT to do it! Not because I’m tired, my muscles are too sore, I’m too busy or anything like that. The mere fact of knowing that today is Friday makes me not want to get off my ass and work out. This is a mental thing. Mind over matter. I need to overcome this way of thinking. Just because it’s Friday, doesn’t constitute as a good enough excuse to skip my workout and throw off my schedule. Right? I’m trying to psyche myself up and tell myself..”Girl, you have 5 weeks until you’re in Hawaii. Do you want people to run when they see you in your bikini?” .

But it’s not working…..

What do you guys do for motivation?
Where do you find it and how does it help you meet your goals?

I know the feeling! My only off day is Saturday and sometimes Fridays are hard but I worked it out so Kenpo, which I really enjoy, is on Fridays. Maybe you should look into altering your schedule so a workout you like is on Friday?

My other motivation is knowing I will feel really guilty if I don’t workout. And, that I’ll have to eat 300 calories less today if I don’t and I want those 300 calories!

Also, think about how good you feel after you are done with your workout!

Thanks Pam! You inspired me with your discipline. It is so hard to stay consistent and that is my biggest challenge. My mind gives me every excuse in the book NOT to and I really need to ignore the bitch!

Hey Barb…it’s funny cause I feel that way every OTHER day but Friday! For some reason I LOVE when I can fit in a workout on Fridays. I actually feel like I can do a longer work out because there is less pressure to get home and get ready for a work day the next day which makes me happy. And if I go to the gym it’s way less crowded after work on a Friday then any other day.

Maybe you can compromise your time. For example, I know that perticular workout is 60 minutes. Maybe you could fit in a 30 minute walk during the day at lunch or do an extra 30 minutes Thursday or Saturday and then only do a 30 minute workout on Fridays? Just a thought.

Hey Erica! Thanks for the encouragement! What I’ve decided to do is make Fridays my rest day. So I’m rearranging my workout schedule. I mean, why put myself through something I know I wont want to do right?

I actually like working out on Saturdays and Sundays. I feel like I have the whole day to really focus on me. :)
